Privacy policy
TeraLeap LLC (“TeraLeap”, “we”) helps companies capture and share customer stories on video. This policy explains what data the TeraLeap app (app.teraleap.io) and the TeraLeap browser extension handle, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your data only to run the service for you and your company. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who this covers
- Customers: people at companies that work with TeraLeap, who sign in to the app or use the extension.
- Interviewees: people who appear in customer story videos.
- Viewers: people who open a story link someone shared with them.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, work email and company, and how you sign in (an emailed code or Google).
- Story content: the videos, transcripts, quotes, story text and notes for your company's stories. For interviewees, that includes their name, role, organization, image and voice, as recorded with their agreement.
- Booking details: when someone books an interview session, the details they enter in the booking form (name, email, mailing address for the video kit, phone model).
- Activity in the app and extension: what you search for, open, download, copy or share, so your team can see where stories are used and how they perform.
- Emails from our team: links to the app in our emails carry a short tag, so when you open the app from one, our team can see that the email reached you. Our emails don't contain tracking images.
- Usage analytics and problem reports: which parts of the app you use, errors the app hits, masked session replays, and anything you send us through “Something not working?” (with the page you were on and your browser). See Product analytics.
- Viewing data: when a video plays, views and watch time, plus basic technical data such as browser type and approximate location from the IP address.
- Connected accounts: if your company connects a tool (for example YouTube or a CRM), the data needed to find where your stories are used and how they performed. Access is read-only unless the connection says otherwise.
The TeraLeap browser extension
The extension lets you find, preview, share and download your company's customer stories while you work in other sites.
- Page access only when you ask. The extension reads the page you're on only when you open the TeraLeap panel or click Insert. It reads what it needs to suggest a fitting story: the site and type of page, and on email, a CRM record or a profile page, the company and job title shown there.
- No email content is collected. The extension never reads or stores the body of your emails or messages. When you insert a story into an email, it records the recipient's company domain (for example acme.com), not their address.
- What it stores: your sign-in session (on your computer) and a log of the actions you take in it, which is saved to your company's TeraLeap account.
- Site permissions are optional. Access to sites like Gmail, LinkedIn, HubSpot or Salesforce is requested the first time you use the extension there, and you can remove it any time in your browser's extension settings.
The use of information received by the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only to provide the extension's features. We don't sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness, and people don't read it except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires.
AI assistants (the TeraLeap Stories connector)
You can connect TeraLeap to an AI assistant you use, such as Claude, so it can find your company's stories, quotes and interview moments, and create share or download links when you ask. You connect it yourself, signing in and clicking Allow; it sees only what you can see in TeraLeap, and you can disconnect it any time in that assistant.
What the assistant reads from TeraLeap is then handled by that assistant under its own terms. Internal-only stories and redacted words are never sent. Share links and downloads made through it are logged like any other, as you.
Product analytics (how we improve the app)
To see where the app works well and where people get stuck, we use PostHog, a product analytics service hosted in the United States. It runs only for signed-in customers of the app, never on share links you send to prospects, on booking pages, or for TeraLeap staff.
- What it records: which pages and buttons you use and when (with your account's ID, your email's company domain, your role and your company), errors the app runs into, and session replays: a re-creation of the page layout, clicks and scrolling, so we can see where something went wrong.
- What it doesn't: in replays every word on the page is hidden except the app's own buttons and menus, so interview transcripts, quotes, story text, names and anything you type are never recorded. Pictures and videos are left out. Searches are counted, not read: we never record what you searched for. Your full email address isn't sent.
- Turning it off: in the app, open Your profile and untick Help improve TeraLeap (usage analytics). That stops PostHog and our own page-visit log for your account on every device.
Separately, the app keeps its own log of what your team does with stories (downloads, shares, Make a video requests) because those are features: your company sees them on its Usage page.
How we use data
- To run the service: sign you in, show your company's stories, play and deliver videos, and keep things secure.
- To produce stories: transcribe interviews and draft story summaries and quotes, which your team can edit.
- To show usage and results: where your stories are used and how they perform, for your team.
- To support you and improve TeraLeap.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- People at your company with access to your TeraLeap account, and TeraLeap staff who run the service for you.
- Anyone you send a share link to can watch that story. You can turn a link off, and we stop showing stories that have been retired or edited for legal reasons.
- Service providers that run parts of TeraLeap for us. They may use the data only to provide their service:
Supabase Database and sign-in for the app Netlify Hosts the app Mux Stores and plays the videos, and measures views and watch time Google Sign in with Google, and Google Drive, where the original video files are kept Resend Sends the sign-in code emails monday.com Our internal production tracker for each video project Calendly Booking interview sessions on our booking pages Anthropic AI that drafts written story summaries from interview transcripts People Data Labs Public company facts (industry, size) used to organize and suggest stories PostHog (US) Product analytics for the app: which features get used, masked session replays and error reports (see below) - Authorities, if the law requires it.
Interviewees
Story videos belong to the company that commissioned them, and they share them under their agreement with the people featured. If you appear in a story and want something changed or removed, ask that company or write to us at team@teraleap.io, and we'll help.
Cookies
The app uses cookies to keep you signed in and to return you to the page you were opening after you sign in. Product analytics keeps its identifier in your browser's local storage on app.teraleap.io, not in a cookie, and only while you use the app. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep data while your company uses TeraLeap. When an account closes, we delete or return its data within 90 days, unless we have to keep something longer by law. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your personal data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited by account and company: one company can't see another's stories. Videos play through signed, expiring links.
Children
TeraLeap is a business service and isn't meant for children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and tell customers about significant changes.
